Six Sentence Story: Shift
A Writing prompt by: GirlieOnTheEdge
Last time on Wasteland! This happened. Meanwhile;
It was a slow shift from a conscious being to a passenger in his own body; his senses slowly being robbed from him as his hearing faded and his vision was reduced to a narrow pin point. His sense of touch had vanished days ago, and he could feel the parasite beginning to encroach upon his mind, digging through his memories and suppressing his awareness.
“Don’t open the door Shay,” Rio continued to repeat. He couldn’t see, he couldn’t hear, and he had no way of knowing if they were still at Shay’s door or if they had moved on, but as long as he still had control of his voice, Rio was going to use it to try and protect his friend, try and warn him that he wasn’t in control and was waiting to tear him limb from limb.
Every passing moment the parasite was getting stronger, sapping more and more strength from Rio, and he was feeling tired; it pressed into his mind and he knew he couldn’t resist it. The pinpoint of light faded from his eyes and he was engulfed in darkness, blind, deaf, and dead to the world; there was nothing left to do but allow his consciousness to fade away.
This is my contribution to the Six Sentence Story prompt from GirlieOnTheEdge. The word this week is: Shift.
Oh wow, Ollie, this is truly horrific!
No-o-o-o-o! Dammit!
Rio was indeed courageous to battle the will of the parasite. Makes me sad he succumbed to the virus.
Interesting in that it would appear the parasites do not force their way in, they must wait for an “invitation”? There is a weakness! *diabolical laughter*
Getting into the story Ollie. Keep it up 😀
I like Rio’s courage to warn Shay.
Wow. So dam’ powerful!
Dear me! So glad I didn’t read this just before I went to bed, Ollie. 🤣
Oh my! This was excellent! You scared me to my toes.
Good continuation, Ollie!
This was creepy good!
