I have been bad: I haven’t been writing either my stories or my updates. I kept up with it for a few months then just let myself fall out of it. I know I’ve been dealing with some depression lately but as far as I can tell I always deal with depression this time of year. Moving from Winter to Summer seems to kill my energy and desire to do stuff. In winter I am alive and thoughtful but when the summer heat and sun start moving it I just die. I get a lot of ideas through the winter season and am usually very productive in my writing. In the summer I am too focused on not dying of heatstroke to be bothered with creativity.

So, I know it’s been a few weeks in the 90s, with stretches in the 100s and possibly 120s to come, but I feel like I should try to get myself together enough to be able to write and stuff in the heat too. Maybe I can get a waterproof laptop and go write in the pool.

With all that said, I ran a poll on Twitter and found that people think my posts are too short. I’ve been keeping them around 500 to 800 words in length because I figured small chunks of writing were easier to consume than big walls of text. So, I am going to go ahead and just… not worry anymore about post lengths. While I think that will make it easier for me to really write without worrying about breaking points, it also means I’m probably going to have longer stretches between posts. Instead of weekly 500 to 800 bits, it’ll be bi-weekly 1,200 to 2,000 word bits.

I’m going to start by reworking old chapter pieces of MAZE into just one page per chapter.

As for the six sentence stories; I was doing so well with those too until one word stumped me and I couldn’t get past it. I couldn’t find a way to make it work in either current active WIP so I skipped it and spiraled from there.

I’ll get back to that ASAP.

In some personal news, I’m on vacation in Missouri. We’ve been considering a move to someplace more affordable than Southern California for a while and since we have friends and family in Springfield it seemed like a good choice. We’ve been here a few days and it’s nothing like I expected. I’ve seen more Pride flags here than I have back home, and the people are extremely friendly. Not just the staff at shops, but the drivers too. Every time I try to find a gap to cross the street, the drivers just stop and let me go. It’s real nice.

New Posts

There have been a lot of posts since my last update. Last update shows MAZE part 4 and I am currently on MAZE part 10.

You can find them from the front page of my site, or on the dedicated MAZE page in the menu.

Books

The books in He Who Fights With Monsters are so long! I am really taking my time working through book 9. It’s taking a little longer because I usually listen to audiobooks while at work, but the last 2 weeks I have been training employees and helping other coworkers so I haven’t had the time.
